Resume Mauro Bernardi, resident and born in Selva di Val Gardena, began his career in alpine skiing with the Ski Club Gardena, through which he spent very young in the National Team. His specialties are the slalom and the giant slalom and with his particular style called "round curve", he tries the difficult overtaking of the great champion Ingemar Stenmark. Between 1977/81 he won several podiums in the World Cup, including a 2nd place in Zwiesel (D) and a 3rd place in Wengen (CH), in addition to a 5th place in the world championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (D ) in '78. Also participate in the Lake Placed Olympics in 1980. The following year he abandoned the competitions, dedicating himself to his great passion: the mountain. He soon became a mountain guide and enriched his mountaineer curriculum with some firsts of extreme skiing and many challenging climbing repetitions. It opens 150 new routes on the Dolomites and climbs the Ama Dablam (6857 m) and the Alpamayo (5947 m) in the Cordillera Blanca in Peru. He has written articles published in specialized magazines such as "Alp" and "La Rivista del C.A. I." He has published 5 highly successful mountaineering guides: Climbing in Val Gardena Vol.1 (2002), Climbing in Cortina d'Ampezzo (2005), Climbing in the Catinaccio (2009), Climbing in Val Gardena Vol.2 (2011) and Climbing in Val Gardena Vol.3 (2015). These mountain guides are the result of 30 years of experience as a mountain guide and a perfect knowledge of the walls. He currently works as a ski instructor at the Selva di Val Gardena Ski School and as an independent mountain guide based in Selva Gardena.
